Dr. D’Amato is a Professor of Medicine at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami, where she serves as a Sarcoma Medical Oncologist, Assistant Director of Clinical Research, Medical Director of Nurse Practitioner Oncology Fellowship Program and Medical Director of Patient Education. She also serves as the Co-Director of Oncology and Related Health Disparities Pathway and Co-Director of Oncology Pathology Advanced Integrative Science Elective at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
She received her B.S. from University of Miami, M.D. from the University of Miami School of Medicine and completed her internal medicine residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami. In 2003, during her last year of hematology/oncology fellowship at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL, she began her focus on sarcomas including GIST and benign connective tissue tumors such as desmoid tumor, chordoma and giant cell tumors. In addition to her clinical service, she is also involved in early phase clinical trials for those indications. Recently, she was awarded to be the administrator of the Horowitz Solitary Fibrous Tumor Initiative Fund.
