Dr. Gillian Gordon Perue is an Associate Professor of vascular neurology at the Leonard M Miller School of Medicine University of Miami and serves as Chief of Neurology and Medical Director of the stroke program for 2 hospitals: Jackson South, and Jackson North Medical Centers. She also serves as the Associate Program Director for Resident Research.
Dr. Gordon Perue is a proud alumnus of the University of the West Indies where she began her medical career in Jamaica; she was one of only three persons that year to graduate MBBS with honors and was Class Valedictorian. She went on to complete an internship, a Residency and Doctorate in Internal Medicine before she migrated to the USA. Once in the USA, Dr. Gordon Perue completed a second residency in Neurology at the University of Miami. There she earned the role of Research Chief Resident. In this role, she created and established the UM Neurology Resident Research Day which is now an endowed research training program. Dr. Gordon Perue then furthered her expertise in the care of patients with Cerebrovascular disease through a Stroke Fellowship, also at the University of Miami.
She is the first author on multiple publications, has co-authored numerous publications, she speaks both locally and internationally, has been a moderator at the International Stroke Conference and the American Academy of Neurology. She is a recognized fellow of the American Academy of Neurology, Fellow of the American Heart Association and member of the WSO Stroke Implementation Taskforce
