Biography
Dr. Ayoade is an Infectious disease expert with primary area of interest in the neuroimmune, bio-behavioral and inflammatory pathways influencing infectious diseases (such as HIV, COVID-19, meningitis syndromes, etc.) effects on the nervous system and the neurological complications of these diseases (stroke, cognitive impairment, cerebral small vessel disease, etc.). By understanding the mechanistic processes and neural pathways associated with these disease entities, we can develop intervention targets and procedures to ameliorate their complications. Dr. Ayoade's studies also include finding better ways to diagnose and manage community acquired and healthcare associated meningitis and ventriculitis. Dr. Ayoade has been involved in several COVID-19 clinical therapeutic trials and currently runs a clinic at the University of Miami/Sylvester out-patient clinics catering for patients with Post-COVID conditions, including neurological complications of COVID-19 such as 'brain fog'. Dr. Ayoade continues to be actively involved in clinical education, research and clinical practice. -
