Biography
Dr. Rajabli is a computational biologist with special emphasis and training in Bioinformatics and artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML). Dr. Rajabli was the first to examine ancestry around the APOE locus showing that individuals with African ancestry had a decreased risk to develop AD for the APOE-4 allele thus indicating a protective effect on this ancestral background which lowers their risk to get AD. These data form the basis for studies to develop treatment options replicating the protective effect that will benefit individuals of all ancestral backgrounds. Dr. Rajabli with his AI/ML expertise is developing models using both genetic and environmental data for risk prediction in neurodegenerative disorders to identify individuals at the highest risk for the disease for early intervention. Early intervention before symptoms occur is the most effective approach to successful treatments. -

Research Interests
Dr. Rajabli is a data scientist with extensive experience in bioinformatics and statistical analysis of large-scale genetic data. His major research focus is applying ancestral approaches in ancestrally diverse populations to identify genetic risk and protective factors in Alzheimer disease. He is currently funded as a principal investigator on the multi-PI National Institutes on Aging (NIA) R01 "Genomic Characterization of Alzheimer Disease Risk in Admixed Populations with Native American and Southern European Genetic Ancestry.” -
