Biography
Dr. Eric Peterson is a dual-trained cerebrovascular neurosurgeon who specializes in the open and endovascular treatment of brain aneurysms, AVMs, and stroke. He is a Professor of Neurological Surgery at the University of Miami MILLER School of Medicine and is the Medical Director of the Neuroendovascular Division at Jackson Memorial Hospital, one of the largest stroke centers in the US.
He is a leading pioneer of the transradial approach to perform neurointerventional procedures. This approach has been utilized for interventional cardiology for decades, but Dr. Peterson was an early proponent of the approach being leveraged for neurointerventional patients as well.
In 2018 he co-founded RIST Neurovascular, Inc. a medical device startup dedicated to developing catheter systems specifically designed to facilitate vascular access to the brain via the radial artery in the wrist. RIST was acquired by Medtronic in 2020.
