Biography
Dr. Enrique Serrano, MD, MSc, is board certified in neurology, epilepsy, and clinical neurophysiology. He received his medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico and completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, formerly known as the National Naval Medical Center, in Bethesda, Maryland. He served for four years as a general medical officer in the United States Navy and was deployed to Iraq where he served as the only physician on a naval ship assigned to the Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group in the Persian Gulf during Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom. Following his naval service, he went on to complete his neurology residency at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia which was followed by a fellowship in clinical neurophysiology with emphasis in epilepsy. Dr. Serrano has had numerous leadership roles including fellowship director at the University of Miami for the Epilepsy and Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship Programs and program director for the Neurology Residency Program at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine/HCA Healthcare GME Consortium in the Greater Orlando area. He completed his Masters of Science degree in Clinical and Translational Investigation at the University of Miami. Dr. Serrano provides care for patients with epilepsy and general neurology in the outpatient setting at the University of Miami Health System in addition to providing care in the inpatient setting as an epileptologist and neuro-hospitalist at Jackson Health System. -
