Emily M. Cherenack, MA, PhD, is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, as well as a clinical psychologist with a background in behavioral medicine and health psychology. Dr. Cherenack came to the University of Miami in 2021 after completing her doctoral studies at Duke University and an internship in behavioral medicine at Brown University. Dr. Cherenack’s research interests are in psychoneuroimmunology and how adaptive coping with stress can improve health. She has spearheaded studies at the University of Miami focused on self-compassion, acceptance coping, and health behaviors among women, sexual and gender minority individuals, and people living with HIV. In addition to overseeing multiple research studies, Dr. Cherenack offers bioinformatics support to the Center for HIV and Research in Mental Health (CHARM) Methods Core.
