Emanuela Palmerini is a medical oncologist currently appointed as Research Professor of Sarcoma at the Miller School of Medicine, joining the Medical Oncology team and the Sarcoma Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.Her clinical interests include bone and soft tissue tumors, and she has worked for about 20 years as a medical oncologist at the IRCCS Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli in Bologna, Italy, since March 2005. She led Clinical Trials Research within the Osteoncology, Soft Tissue and Bone Sarcoma and Innovative Therapies Unit, acting as PI or co-I in more than 30 clinical trials for sarcoma treatment. Dr. Palmerini collaborated with IRCCS Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli Research Laboratories, pioneering new treatments for rare tumors, and with the Cell Therapy Laboratory and Hemolymphopathology Laboratory at the Institute of Hematology Seragnoli in Bologna, studying tumor microenvironment and immunotherapy in sarcomas.
Dr. Palmerini has been involved in sarcoma biology and oncology since 2001, participating in a visiting research fellowship at Rockefeller University, New York, and clinical observer training at MSKCC, also in New York. She has conducted several international collaborations and research visits, serving as a visiting professor at the ESMO Translational Research Unit at the Institute Gustave Roussy in Paris, and the Santa Monica Sarcoma Center in Los Angeles.
