Biography
Dr. Elahe Nezami is the founding director of the Miller School’s online Master of Public Health program. She dedicates significant time to fostering diversity and inclusion initiatives while also spearheading the development of novel academic programs through innovative pedagogy. Possessing a profound commitment to enhancing education and training in public health and global health, Dr. Nezami has established strategic partnerships for in-depth study and research with collaborators across the globe. Dr. Nezami is unwavering in her dedication to advancing progressive educational programs that aim to expand the public's awareness of crucial public health and global health issues.
Dr. Nezami served as the director of the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Studies undergraduate program for 25 years at USC. In 2008 she developed and launched the Master of Science in Global Medicine online program, and in 2010 she launched the Global Health undergraduate program. In the same year, she launched the Master of Electrical Engineering: Wireless Health Technology. She serves as the sole director of the first three degree programs and as the co-director of the Master of Science in Electrical Engineering - Wireless Health Technology.
Dr. Nezami serves as North American Regional Director and Vice President of the Asia-Pacific Academic Consortium of Public Health and as a member of the Consortium of Universities for Global Health. She has served as a faculty member at the Harvard Macy Institute’s Program for Educators in Health Professions numerous times and remains dedicated to innovation in teaching and learning. -

Research Interests
Dr. Nezami’s ongoing research examines global health education, effective integration of technology into pedagogy, spaced learning and its utility in improving learning outcomes, determinants of behavioral risk factors for chronic diseases, cancer, and cardiovascular diseases, and the examination of personality characteristics in relation to cardiovascular disease. Dr. Nezami received her M.A. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Houston and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Southern California. -
