Professor of Clinical Radiology
- 
        BiographyDr. Efrat Saraf-Lavi was promoted to Professor of Clinical Radiology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in June 2025, where she also holds a secondary appointment in Neurosurgery. A fellowship-trained neuroradiologist, she serves as Magnetic Resonance Medical Director (MRMD) for the Radiology Department at Jackson Memorial Hospital and as Medical Director of the UHealth Applebaum Imaging Center.
 Dr. Saraf-Lavi earned her medical degree and B.Sc. in Biology cum laude from the Technion Institute of Technology in Haifa, Israel. She completed her radiology residency at Sapir Medical Center in Kfar Saba, Israel, followed by advanced fellowships in thoracic imaging, mammography, and neuroradiology at Jackson Memorial Hospital. She joined the University of Miami faculty in 2005 and has held progressive leadership roles in education, clinical practice, and research.
 Her scholarly contributions span spine imaging, peripheral nerve imaging, spinal vascular pathology, and neuro-oncology. She is the author of numerous peer-reviewed publications in journals including American Journal of Neuroradiology, Journal of Neuroimaging, Neurosurgical Focus, and Topics in Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Dr. Saraf-Lavi is also editor and author of multiple influential textbooks, including several editions of Spine Imaging: Case Review Series and Neuroradiology Case Review Series.
 Dr. Saraf-Lavi has played a pivotal role in advancing research at the Miller School of Medicine as a co-investigator or lead radiologist on NIH- and industry-funded studies in multiple sclerosis, stroke, spinal cord injury, gliomas, and advanced MRI applications. Her work has been instrumental in translational projects involving spectroscopy, perfusion imaging, and novel imaging biomarkers.
 An acclaimed educator, she has received multiple neuroradiology teaching awards for both conferences and core rotations. She regularly teaches at weekly and monthly multidisciplinary boards, including neuro-oncology, skull base, spine oncology, and movement disorders. She has also been an invited lecturer at major national and international meetings, including the American Society of Neuroradiology (ASNR), American Society of Spine Radiology (ASSR), and the Southeastern Neuroradiological Society (SENRS).
 Dr. Saraf-Lavi is a senior member of ASNR and an active member of RSNA, ACR, ASSR, and ISMRM. She also contributes to the field as a reviewer for Radiology and Journal of Computer Assisted Tomography. Her excellence has been recognized with numerous honors, including Castle Connolly’s “Exceptional Women in Medicine” (2024), Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center’s “Stars Employee of the Year” (2023), and “Top Doctors in America” (2023).
 Through her leadership, scholarship, and dedication to patient care, Dr. Saraf-Lavi has established herself as a leader in neuroradiology and continues to advance the missions of clinical excellence, education, and research at the University of Miami.
