  Dr. Avella Patino is double board certified in general surgery and thoracic surgery. He specializes in the surgical management of benign and malignant diseases in the chest, including lungs, esophagus, pleura chest wall, diaphragm, and mediastinum. He is experienced in all techniques of lung and esophageal resection with expertise in robotic surgery.

Dr. Avella Patino’s goal is to equip trainees with the appropriate skills, knowledge, and attitude necessary to obtain the best outcomes for their patients.

  Dr. Avella Patino’s research is focused on the development of methods to combine non-surgical therapies with surgery to optimize the outcomes of patient cancer treatments. His concentration is in cancer immunology with a particular interest in T cells.
