Dr. Baidal completed Internal Medicine Residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital, University of Miami in 2012. This was followed by a clinical and research fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at BIDMC, Harvard Medical School, in 2015. After completion of his fellowship training, he returned to the Diabetes Research Institute, University of Miami. In his current faculty position, Dr. Baidal is the Center Director for Type 1 Diabetes TrialNet at the University of Miami and a member of the NIDDK funded Collaborative Islet Transplantation Registry Steering Committee and Co-Chair of the Data Elements Committee. Dr. Baidal serves as PI/Co-PI in multiple T1D clinical trials including pancreatic beta cell replacement strategies, TrialNet prevention trials and early intervention trials testing drug and cell therapies aimed at preventing loss of ß-cell function. His clinical focus centers on the management of T1D and type 2 diabetes and the use of advanced diabetes technologies including continuous glucose monitoring devices, smart insulin pens, and hybrid closed loop systems.
