Biography
Dr. Yakoub graduated at University of Cairo, obtained his PhD degree at Imperial College London. After his General Surgery residency at Staten Island University Hospital in NYC, he completed fellowship training in Complex General Surgical Oncology at the University of Miami, then joined faculty as an Assistant Professor at UM for a few years.
He then joined University of Tennessee Health Sciences, then Mayo Clinic Health System before Joining Medical College of Georgia in Augusta as a Chief of Division of Surgical Oncology. And finally, moved back to Miami to rejoin UM as Professor of Surgery and Surgical Oncology.
His clinical interests include the treatment of malignant as well as benign disorders of the esophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas, biliary system, small intestine and sarcomas. With strong emphasis on performing minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic surgery. -

Teaching Interests
Dr Yakoub believes providing intentional, world class, methodical, medical and surgical education and training to the next generation of surgeons with incorporating research and innovation, is critical to advance patient care and the field of Complex Surgical Oncology. -
Research Interests
Research interests include metabolomic profiling and reprograming in cancer cells, he also have an active research effort in improving clinical outcomes in upper gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary pancreatic cancer patients through outcomes analysis as well as basic science research. -
