  Dr. Daniela Galán is originally from Venezuela, where she completed her medical degree and Radiology residency at La Universidad del Zulia. Motivated to continue her professional growth, she moved to the United States to persue advanced subspecialty training. At the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, she completed fellowships in Cancer imaging and Emergency/Trauma imaging. Dr. Galan is now full-time faculty member in the Emergency and Trauma Imaging Division at UM/JMH/Ryder Trauma Center, she maintains a busy clinical practice and is an active member of the AI Radiology team, leading the development of algorithms for detecting vertebral body fractures, bone density loss, and thoracic aortic aneurysms.

  Dr. Galan is a core faculty member in the ER/Trauma imaging division, actively involved in teaching and training medical students, radiology residents, and fellows at the University of Miami.

• Research Interests

  Dr. Galan’s research interest focus on trauma and emergency radiology, with a particular emphasis on whole-body CT protocols, imaging findings in high-impact injuries, and the integration of artificial intelligence to improve diagnostic accuracy and triage. She is also actively involved in projects related to oncologic emergencies and development of imaging algorithms for early detection of osteopenia, vertebral fractures and aortic aneurysms. Her work aims to enhance patient outcomes through optimized imaging strategies and interdisciplinary collaboration, with the ultimate goal of enabling timely treatment and preventing further complications.
