Biography
Dr. Daniel Gewolb joined the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine Department of Radiology as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Radiology in August 2025. He is a fellowship-trained neuroradiologist whose expertise spans brain, spine, and head and neck imaging, with a strong foundation in both advanced diagnostic techniques and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Dr. Gewolb earned his Bachelor of Science degree from SUNY Binghamton, graduating cum laude. He went on to receive his medical degree from St. George’s University, where he graduated magna cum laude and was inducted into the Iota Epsilon Alpha Honors Society. Following his transitional year in medicine at Lincoln Medical Center in New York, he completed his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Albany Medical Center, where he was appointed Chief Resident during his final year. He subsequently pursued subspecialty fellowship training in Neuroradiology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, serving as Chief Fellow. During this time, he also held a faculty appointment as Instructor in Radiology at the University of Pennsylvania.
His academic interests are broad and include neuro-oncologic imaging, spine pathology, and head and neck disease. Dr. Gewolb has authored and co-authored case reports, educational exhibits, and research abstracts presented at leading national and international meetings, including the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), American Roentgen Ray Society (ARRS), and the American Society of Spine Radiology (ASSR). His contributions include published educational cases in Radiopaedia and RSNA Case Collections, as well as peer-reviewed research such as analyses of cervical spine surgery outcomes and rare presentations of central nervous system disease. His work has been recognized with honors such as first place in the RSNA Resident Competition (2022) and induction into Alpha Omega Alpha (2022).
In addition to his scholarly productivity, Dr. Gewolb is deeply committed to education. At Albany Medical Center, he organized weekly board review sessions for 23 radiology residents and delivered over a dozen lectures annually to medical students. At the University of Pennsylvania, he continued his dedication to teaching through peer learning conferences, multidisciplinary tumor boards, and resident/fellow scheduling and evaluation. He has also been invited to present internationally, including a lecture on the “Spaces of the Suprahyoid Neck” at the Radiopaedia Annual Conference.
Dr. Gewolb is an active member of professional societies including the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), American College of Radiology (ACR), and American Society of Neuroradiology (ASNR). His blend of clinical expertise, academic achievement, and dedication to mentorship positions him as a valuable contributor to the University of Miami’s missions of clinical excellence, research, and education. -
