Dr. Crystal Seldon Taswell is a physician-scientist at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (MSOM)-Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC). Dr. Taswell treats breast and musculoskeletal cancers. Dr. Taswell obtained her Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from Morehouse School of Medicine. She was a recipient of the Coca Cola Medical Scholarship. She completed a Transitional Year internship at WellStar Kennestone Regional Medical Center and completed residency in radiation oncology at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital Program in 2023. Dr. Taswell is an internationally recognized expert in health equity and has served on several expert committees including the Health, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) and the Women in Oncology Affinity Group of ASTRO. She is also the past immediate Chair for the Society for Women in Radiation Oncology (SWRO). Her research program focuses on and is not limited to the following applications of radiation therapy for musculoskeletal and breast tumors: translational epidemiology, genomics, cancer disparities, and radiomics. She has numerous co-authored manuscripts on these topics including several publications in top medical journals.
