My primary, investigator-initiated studies focus on the identification of biomarkers of the progression of chronic kidney disease. My interest in the care of children with congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract (CAKUT) specifically focuses on the predictors and management of chronic kidney disease. It extends throughout the continuum of their disease, from prenatal counseling of parents through the provision of kidney replacement therapy, which has resulted in the scientific study of the prenatal determinants of chronic kidney disease in children with CAKUT, as well as the study of the associated co-morbidities, including cardiovascular and mineral-bone disease in end-stage kidney disease (ESKD).
