Christopher Lopez, D.O., is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He completed medical school at Western University College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in Pomona, California. His residency in Internal Medicine was completed at Legacy Health in Portland, Oregon, and he subsequently worked for a year as a Teaching Hospitalist at Oregon Health and Sciences University in Hillsboro, Oregon. He then went on to complete a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Florida, followed by a fellowship in Transplant Infectious Diseases at University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. His clinical practice and research efforts are focused on NTM (Nontuberculous Mycobacterial) infections of immunocompromised and immunocompetent patients and he has joined the multidisciplinary Bronchiectasis and NTM clinic at University of Miami. Dr. Lopez is the current Director of the OPAT (outpatient antibiotic therapy) program at University of Miami. He is actively involved in the Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program at University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital and is passionate about medical education and mentorship of trainees. He spends his free time with his wife, two children, and dog. He enjoys hiking, music, reading, swimming, any sport with a ball, and experiencing other cultures through travel.
