Biography
I am a double board-certified Otolaryngologist and Otologist-Neurotologist, mid-career surgeon scientist, and Associate Professor of Otolaryngology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. I have a broad research background in molecular and cellular biology, neuroscience, and oncology and have several years of experience investigating Schwann cell biology, vestibular schwannoma, Neurofibromatosis Type 2 (NF2), and hearing-related disorders that affect the auditory hair cells and spiral ganglia neurons. My current research also focuses on the biological mechanisms of perineural invasion in head and neck and cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma. My lab is currently funded by the NIH/NIDCD and foundation grants. I have a good track record of collaborative clinical and translational research with neurosurgeons, head and neck oncologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and neuroscientists. I have mentored several undergraduates, medical students, residents, and fellows over the years.

Teaching Interests
Dr. Christine Dinh is passionate about teaching the next generation of physicians, otolaryngologists, and surgeon scientists, because it is important to develop and support medical leaders that will deliver excellent clinical and surgical care, bring communities together, create programs of education and health, and discover new treatments for our patients and their families. She is a mentor to high school and undergraduate students stimulated by the biomedical sciences, medical students enamored by the special senses, otolaryngology residents and fellows striving to be the best they can be, surgeon scientists dedicated to bring scientific research from the bench to the bedside, and junior faculty. She is the Vice Chair of Academic Affairs, the Associate Director of the Neurotology Fellowship Training Program and the Co-Director of the NIH/NIDCD R25 Miami Otolaryngology Surgeon Scientist Training Program (MOSSTP) at the University of Miami / Jackson Memorial Hospital. Alongside Olena Bracho, she also co-direct the Dinh-Bracho Surgeon Scientist Boot Camp for medical students and residents, aimed at developing academic and scientific leaders that will carry our field forward for years to come.
Research Interests
My research interests include elucidating the tumor microenvironment and tumor biology in vestibular schwannoma and Neurofibromatosis Type 2 (NF2), testing and translating new therapies for VS and NF2, testing otoprotective and ototoxic agents on auditory hair cells and hearing, and understanding the biological mechanisms of perineural invasion in head and neck and cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma.
