Biography
Dr. Banda received her medical degree from the Universidad Central de Venezuela in 2011. She completed her Pediatric Residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, followed by a Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship, where she pursued a specialized Transplant ID track. Her training has equipped her with expertise in managing infectious diseases in pediatric solid-organ transplant recipients and immunocompromised patients. -

Teaching Interests
As an Assistant Professor and Associate Program Director of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship, Dr. Banda is actively involved in training future specialists. She has led board review sessions, developed a toolkit for residents training in transplant centers, and mentors fellows and residents in research and clinical case presentations. Her dedication to medical education was recognized with the Fellow of the Year award in 2024. -

Dr. Banda’s clinical and research interests center on infections in immunocompromised pediatric patients, with a particular focus on solid-organ transplant recipients. Her research explores adenovirus infections in this vulnerable population, aiming to improve early detection, risk stratification, and management strategies. She has been awarded research grants, including the PIDS RAPID Scholar and IMG Early Career awards, to support her work in advancing the understanding and treatment of infectious complications in pediatric transplant recipients. -
