Biography
Dr. Ayse A. Canturk is a board-certified Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Miami and Jackson Memorial Hospital.
She obtained her medical degree from Kocaeli University School of Medicine in Turkey and engaged in various public and global health projects. During her medical school education in Turkey, she received a scholarship from the European Education Committee (ERASMUS) and received part of her education at the University Insubria in Italy and did many scholarly activities across the United States. Her work has been honored by the European Educational Exchange Program and the International Federation of Medical Students Associations.
Dr. Canturk was selected with a scholarship by the Harvard Faculty to attend the Harvard Medical School Global Clinical Scholars Research Training Program and is currently mentoring voluntarily in the Harvard-GSCRT program. She is also actively involved with Harvard Alumni.
Her internal medicine residency was at Steward Carney Hospital and its affiliated Tufts University School of Medicine, and she completed her fellowship at the University of Miami J. Maxwell Mckenzie/Jackson Memorial Hospital and the Bruce W. Carter Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism Fellowship.
She has many publications and contributed book chapters.
Dr. Canturk is interested in bone diseases, nutrition, diabetes, and metabolism disorders, and has published several works in these fields. Moreover, she has been awarded scholarships and selected to present her research at Fellows' Forums. Her work has been recognized and appreciated by various endocrinology societies including the Endocrine Society, the American Society of Bone and Mineral Research, and the American Diabetes Association.
She was awarded with Certified Clinical Densitometrist (CCD® ) designation by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). -
