Armando Vera, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and a radiation oncologist at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and Jackson Health System. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and has completed residency training in both internal medicine and radiation oncology.
Dr. Vera earned his medical degree from the Universidad Central de Venezuela, Escuela de Medicina Luis Razetti. He completed his Internal Medicine residency through the Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University and Hartford HealthCare’s St. Vincent’s Medical Center. He subsequently completed his Radiation Oncology residency at the University of Miami, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Jackson Health System, where he served as Chief Resident.
His clinical interests include inpatient radiation oncology, palliative radiation therapy, oncologic emergencies, symptom management, and the delivery of coordinated, evidence-based cancer care across inpatient and outpatient settings. His faculty work focuses on developing an integrated inpatient and outpatient palliative radiation oncology program designed to expedite access to radiation therapy, improve symptom control, reduce avoidable hospital days, and strengthen transitions of care through multidisciplinary collaboration.
Dr. Vera is also committed to medical education. He is a co-developer of the OnCane Nexus Dynamic Radiation Oncology Pathway, co-author of the University of Miami/Jackson Health System Radiation Oncology Handbook, and helped develop rotation-specific competencies aligned with Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education core competencies and milestones.
His work as a physician-educator has been recognized through induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and multiple awards for clinical excellence, compassionate patient care, resident leadership, and medical education.
