Biography
Dr. Brown joined the General Neurology division at the University of Miami in early 2017 after 10 years in private practice. He became chief of the Division in 2020. Dr. Brown did his undergraduate studies at Columbia University and then went to medical school at the University of Rochester. He went on to complete medical internship at Mount Sinai in New York City followed by neurology residency at Albert Einstein in New York City where he also served as one of the administrative chief residents. Dr. Brown went on to complete two fellowships at the University of Miami, one in multiple sclerosis and a second in electromyography and neuromuscular disorders however, however at this point he considers himself a well-rounded general neurologist. Since early 2022, Dr. Brown has also joined the amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) multidisciplinary clinic team on Friday afternoons. Dr. Brown is board certified in neurology and neuromuscular medicine by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is also Board certified in electrodiagnostic medicine by the American Academy of Electrodiagnostic medicine. -

Teaching Interests
Dr. Brown also teaches in the medical school in several different capacities. He is a Longitudinal Clinician Educator (LCE). LCEs are Miller School of Medicine faculty members who are dedicated to shepherding students through the transformative journey of becoming physicians. Primarily, they function as advocates, offering guidance, coaching, and mentorship to students navigating the medical school journey.
Dr. Brown is also a University of Miami Case Based Learing (UMCL) facilitator. UMCL facilitators guide group, case-based discussions in the SSD (symptoms and signs of disease course) in Phase 1 of the NextGen curriculum. These in-depth, 105 min-75 min, case-based discussions span a myriad of topics from cardiovascular medicine to nephrology with a goal to prepare students for the clinical rotations in Phase 2 of the NextGen curriculum.
Dr. Brown also lectures on general and peripheral neurology in the SSD4-Neurology course on a yearly basis. -
