Biography
Dr. Alexandra Cocores joined the Headache Division as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Neurology in 2022. She was born in New Jersey and grew up in South Florida. She received and undergraduate degree (BS) in Neuroscience (with minors in Anthropology and Chemistry) at the University of Miami. She then completed medical school, residency training (including as chief resident), and a fellowship in headache medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida.
Dr. Cocores is board certified in Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and board-certified for the UNCS Headache Medicine Certification. She is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Headache Society, and the International Headache Society. Her clinical interests include migraine, chronic migraine, cluster headache and other trigeminal autonomic cephalalgias, new daily persistent headache, occipital neuralgia, trigeminal neuralgia, secondary headache disorders, atypical headache disorders, and the management of headache in women including during pregnancy and breastfeeding. She enjoys teaching medical students, residents, and fellows and received a resident teaching award during her training. -
