Biography
Dr. Alex Zusman is a physician and public health leader with over 15 years of patient care experience as a full-scope Pediatric Hospitalist across both public and private institutions in the San Francisco Bay area. He grew up in Broward county in a Cuban/Peruvian home and is returning to Florida now after 3 years in New Zealand where he served as the Chief Medical Officer for The Clinician, a digital health software company developing products that measure health outcomes for a variety of industry uses as well as quality improvement programs.
Prior to that, Dr. Zusman earned his BS in Biology at Duke University and his MPH in Epidemiology at the Yale University of School of Public Health. He completed his medical school training at the University of Florida College of Medicine and went on to the University of California, San Francisco to pursue his residency in Pediatrics where he concentrated on the advocacy and leadership for underserved populations. He is board certified in Pediatrics as well as Pediatric Hospital Medicine.
Throughout his career, Dr. Zusman has developed expertise in integrated hospital systems, clinical research, quality improvement, physician wellness, antibiotic stewardship, grant writing, and medical education. An advocate for maternal and child health, he has led initiatives aimed at improving outcomes through innovation, efficiency, and creative problem solving. He now serves as the Director of Newborn Services as Jackson Memorial Hospital with Holtz Children's Hospital.
He has previously served on the board of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Northern California Chapter, and has a passion for making salsa and woodworking.
