Biography
Dr. Alessia Cioci is a board-certified general surgeon and fellowship trained endocrine surgeon. She specializes in the evaluation and treatment of both benign and malignant disorders of the thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal glands. She is comprehensively trained in both minimally invasive and open approaches and offers non-surgical therapies such as Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA).
Dr. Cioci obtained her medical degree from the University of Miami in 2017. She remained at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital for her entire surgical training, completing a general surgery residency and endocrine surgery fellowship. She is a South Florida native who is extremely passionate about caring for her community, especially the underserved and vulnerable populations within in. She is also committed to educating the students and trainees that comprise our healthcare system. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the DeWitt-Daughtry Family Department of Surgery. She sees and treats patients at UHealth at SoLè Mia, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Jackson Memorial Hospital. -

Teaching Interests
Dr. Cioci is deeply invested in the education and training of students, residents, and fellows at the University of Miami, given her own personal experience in each of those roles. She is committed to providing an outstanding educational experience both in and out of the operating room. Although she has given formal lectures and practical sessions, Dr. Cioci feels she is most valuable in the mentorship that she provides, especially to students and aspiring surgeons.
