Biography
Dr. Adriana Falcón Vázquez joined the faculty of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in August 2025 as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Radiology. She specializes in breast imaging and provides care across the University of Miami Health System, including Jackson Memorial Medical Center, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, and University of Miami Hospital.
Dr. Falcón Vázquez earned her medical degree magna cum laude from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, where she developed her early interests in radiology and oncology. She went on to complete a transitional residency at Hospital Episcopal San Lucas in Ponce, Puerto Rico, followed by a diagnostic radiology residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Health System. To further specialize in women’s imaging, she pursued a breast imaging fellowship at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Her scholarly work spans both clinical research and educational initiatives. She has co-authored peer-reviewed publications on topics ranging from perioperative effects of anesthesia and surgery on cancer progression to the epidemiology and management of craniopharyngiomas. Her research has been featured in journals such as the Journal of Cancer Research Updates and Boletín de la Asociación Médica de Puerto Rico. She has also presented educational and scientific posters at national and international meetings, including the ARRS Annual Meeting, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS).
Dr. Falcón Vázquez is actively engaged in ongoing projects at the University of Miami focused on breast tumor characterization, angiomyolipoma imaging, and rare gastrointestinal lesions. She has contributed to the ACR Case in Point series and has participated in multidisciplinary research collaborations that bridge radiology, surgery, and oncology.
In recognition of her leadership and service, Dr. Falcón Vázquez was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society in 2018 and participated in the AMSA Leadership Program. She is a member of several professional organizations, including the Radiological Society of North America, the Society of Breast Imaging, and the American College of Radiology.
Beyond her academic and clinical work, Dr. Falcón Vázquez has been deeply involved in community service. She has tutored medical Spanish for peers, volunteered in disaster relief efforts for Hurricane Irma survivors, and participated in international health initiatives in Zimbabwe and Australia. These experiences reflect her commitment to compassionate care, global health, and mentorship.
At the University of Miami, Dr. Falcón Vázquez brings her expertise in breast imaging, dedication to patient-centered care, and passion for education and research to advance the mission of the Department of Radiology. -
