The Desai Sethi Urology Institute of University of Miami/Jackson Health System offers an ACGME- approved fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS)/Urogynecology, a combined alternating program accepting Urology and Gynecology applicants in rotating years. The program is an ABOG/ABU approved fellowship consisting of a two year program for Urology trained applicants and a three year program for OB/GYN trained applicants.
Trainees will gain knowledge and skill in diagnosing and treating voiding dysfunction and pelvic floor disorders. This high-yield training experience will include opportunities to learn transvaginal, robotic, and open approaches for pelvic floor reconstruction (i.e., sacrocolpopexies, vaginal hysterectomies, vaginal apical suspensions, complex fistula repairs, fascial and mid-urethral slings, etc.), neuromodulation and urinary diversion. Additional education will include neurourology (office and surgical management including complex reconstruction), urodynamics, and collaborations with gastroenterology and colorectal surgery for a multi-disciplinary educational approach. The program includes robust research opportunities (clinical and basic science) with a formal curriculum on biostatistics, study design, grant writing, and database management.
