Resident Research

Department of Radiology

Residents are encouraged to initiate research projects of their own or to participate in ongoing faculty research projects. There are many opportunities for research in all sections of diagnostic radiology. The Magnetic Resonance Imaging Center has a 3-T magnet available for investigative use. Projects are being developed in all areas of radiology for research on this unit.

One major research project is required of each resident during the four year program, culminating in a presentation of the work at our Annual Residents’ Day and Scientific Program. Residents’ Day is attended by faculty, residents, and radiologists from the community. This original work must also be suitable for submission for possible publication in a major peer reviewed radiology journal. The level of presentations at this seminar rivals that of national radiology meetings, and in many cases, our residents are accepted for presentation at such meetings.
