The interventional spine service line offers a comprehensive percutaneous minimally invasive solution to a wide spectrum of musculoskeletal (MSK) and spinal pathologies. The UM spine faculty are trained in radiology as well as in minimally invasive percutaneous  surgical techniques.  This unique dual skill set allows physicians to utilize their knowledge and understanding of imaging to diagnose and treat various MSK/spine pathologies through minimally invasive, percutaneous approaches. Among the pathologies treated are back pain, spine fractures, certain bone tumors and knee pain. We strive to continuously improve procedure efficiency and patient outcomes. Our faculty strive to continuously improve patient outcomes and procedural efficiency. We are actively involved in research and education to promote implementation of appropriate spine interventions, development of novel techniques and treatment solutions for spine pathologies and guidance of device development to improve technical procedural success.
