Adrenal Vein Sampling

Interventional Radiology
Adrenal venous sampling (AVS) is a minimally invasive procedure used to determine excess hormone production in one or both adrenal glands. If you have been diagnosed with primary aldosteronism a test called AVS can help you doctor how to treat the condition.
The interventional Radiologist maps the veins of the adrenal glands and collects samples from both adrenal veins as well as peripheral veins to help determine where the excess aldosterone is coming from. The results in conjunction with an endocrinologist and surgeon can help determine if surgery is appropriate.
