Connecting the Community and Clinical Research
Listening to needs, creating opportunity
Creating, supporting, and promoting a healthier community begins with listening. It starts by understanding the concerns of our family, friends, and neighbors, and then creating clinical research opportunities to help address those issues.
At the Miller School of Medicine’s Clinical Translational Research Site, we are leading the fight in several areas of research including cancer, neuroscience and neurology, HIV/AIDS, and diabetes and metabolism. Our researchers ask bold new questions, seek out innovative treatments and dive into diseases to understand every detail of a condition and how it affects an individual’s health.
As Professor of Clinical Medicine, my role and privilege is to serve both our researchers and our community. I work to bring services, support and resources to our researchers so that they are successful in their endeavors, and I listen to the community to ensure we are fulfilling our responsibility to be a good servant of public health. It is my belief – and mission – to bring good, compliant science to the community and opportunities to our researchers.
I am excited about the future of research at the Miller School of Medicine. Together, we will achieve innovations that we can only begin to dream of today.
