The WHCC occupies 5000 sq-ft in the FOX Building on the medical campus - UM. The space was designed to meet the demands of investigators whose work in translational research could involve the use of animal and/or human cells, cellular and molecular techniques, and who might utilize specialized equipment, systems and technologies. To that end, the space includes a designated gene lab, dedicated rooms for animal and human cell culture, private (only accessible to project personnel) laboratories for UM investigator-initiated start-ups, and the space houses the WHCC Biological Modifiers Core Facility.
To facilitate a collaborative environment, the WHCC FOX facility includes an open lab area with four bays, an open office area, a glass-wash and autoclave facility, dark-room, cold-room and a common equipment room. The space is also equipped with necessary equipment for assays that involve the use of radioisotope.
The WHCC Conference Room, fully equipped with complete audio- visual and conferencing capabilities, is also located in the WHCC FOX facility. Potential users should contact the Center Administrator: 305-243-8091.
To better serve the needs of investigators whose projects have been funded by the WHCC, the Director of Business Development, Dr. Bin Yan, maintains an office in the WHCC FOX facility. The lab-manager and regulatory coordinator will also be housed in this space.
