Dr. Vance Keynotes Florida PD Conference
Dr. Jeffery M. Vance recently spoke at the 1st Annual Parkinson’s Education Conference sponsored by the National Parkinson Foundation Outreach Center at FAU. The event was held at the Palm Beach County Convention Center and featured experts in the field of Parkinson’s research. In his speech, “Genetic Risk Factors for PD Medicine,” Dr. Vance discussed the increasing possibilities and influence of medicines to treat symptoms of Parkinson’s disease and related disabilities. Other speakers included Dr. Carlos Singer of the University of Miami and Director of the National Parkinson Foundation, Dr. Stuart Isaacson of the Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Center of Boca Raton and Dr. Nestor Galvez of the Cleveland Clinic, among other renowned Parkinson’s specialists. The goal of this conference is to bring healthcare professionals, caregivers and advocates for Parkinson's together to foster awareness and discussion of the latest studies, therapies and issues associated with PD. The enormous turnout and enthusiastic response from PD advocates further exemplifies the unique resources available to our PD team through the University of Miami. Dr. Vance is hopeful this conference will continue to draw leading researchers and other healthcare professionals working on treatment and preventative therapies for Parkinson’s.
