Technology Transfer

 Technology Transfer

InfoEd’s Technology Transfer module offers robust administrative support for managing intellectual property from report of invention to royalty distributions. The module simplifies the management of complex many-to-many relationships with click-thru navigation between related disclosure records, marketing campaigns,
protection filings, and agreements.

  • Tech Transfer inherits all submission details from the Invention Reporting and Tracking module, eliminating redundant data entry (e.g. inventor; project titles; sponsor details; disclosure precis; etc.).
  • The module allows organizations to track technologies in development, and maintain detailed disclosure history for subsequent substantiation of claims
  • Tech Transfer supports complex portfolios where multiple disclosures related to the same technology can be tracked collectively as one case. The case can, in turn, be linked to one or many protection filings, marketing campaigns, and agreements.
  • Each case can record multiple protection filings - patents, copyrights, and trademarks. Each protection filing represents a unique application and captures relevant administrative details including filing dates.
  • Tech Transfer Management automates the monitoring of filing dates. Deadlines are instantly computed based on start dates and advance reminder notifications can be automated. The system likewise supports reminders for expirations, due dates for scheduled payments and other milestones.
  • Marketing Campaigns can be built around individual technology cases or groups of cases. Campaigns capture all administrative details including: market analysis, strategy and promotional materials, as well as the campaign performance and resulting leads.
  • The system can track the status, terms and conditions, documents and communication history of every agreement.
  • Agreements can document event or date driven licensing royalties. Upon posting, royalty payments can trigger a formula based distribution to the inventors and other stakeholders for the related technologies.
  • InfoEd enables Tech Transfer Offices to closely model the complex interwoven financial relationships between protection filings, technology cases, and agreements.
  • Every technology case can have its own account; patent-specific expenses can be captured in sub-accounts that roll up to the parent case.
  • Each line item can be independently charged out to the appropriate agreement to track recovery. Internal accounts can be used as necessary to identify the specific budgets that will reimburse unfunded expenditures.
  • Invoices can be generated electronically, the receivables can be aged, and income posted back to the appropriate cost centers. Batch licensee payments posted in the system can be allocated against existing receivables across multiple agreements.
  • InfoEd is adding a LEDES compliant interface to further streamline management of legal expenses.
  • InfoEd provides automated support for EDISON reporting, with batch capability to aggregate relevant patent and licensing details from appropriate technology cases. Missing data is flagged to ensure that the report is administratively complete prior to submission.
  • Tech Transfer leverages the InfoEd platform’s   central contact management system. Communication history is maintained both centrally at the contact profile level, as well as discretely within each record.
  • Tech Transfer provides for links with other InfoEd modules, enabling tight coordination with other research offices on related grants, protocols, trials, and publications.
InfoEd’s ad hoc Reporting Tool provides access to all fields in all records, enabling customizable views of the data on demand.
  • Workflow security enables the flexible division of administrative functions between distinct areas of operation (e.g. portfolio management; marketing; legal; licensing; financial management; etc.).
