UHealth Sleep Center Is Moving to Bascom Palmer Eye Institute

The UHealth Sleep Center will move this January from the National Parkinson Foundation to a newly renovated facility at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.

To be located on the fifth floor of the nation’s No. 1 ranked eye hospital, the sleep center will feature a state-of-the-art sleep laboratory and extra space, including six sleep study rooms and consultation rooms, to accommodate its growing patient base. The center will be staffed by a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient care.

Under the leadership of Alexandre Rocha Abreu, M.D., and Alberto Ramos, M.D., both assistant professors of medicine and Medical Co-Directors of the sleep center, the center’s team of specialists includes Jaime Avecillas, M.D., assistant professor of medicine; Salim Dib, M.D., assistant professor of clinical neurology; Bruce Nolan, M.D., associate professor of clinical neurology, psychiatry and behavioral sciences; Shirin Shafazand, M.D., assistant professor of medicine; and Shahriar Shahzeidi, M.D., assistant professor of clinical pediatrics.

Accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the center provides care to adult and pediatric patients with a range of sleep disorders, including sleep apnea, insomnia, restless leg syndrome, narcolepsy, and many others.
