UHealth Employees Well Represented at Prestigious National Pharmacy Conference
Several UHealth employees attended the recent American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Midyear Clinical Meeting in Anaheim, Calif. — the world’s largest gathering of pharmacists.
This year was especially important as first-year Pharmacy Practice resident Johanna Rivera, Pharm.D., made a poster presentation on the use of unfractionated heparin for the treatment of deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, or prevention of stroke in atrial fibrillation in the obese population.
UHealth Pharmacy Services employees also staffed a booth at the residency showcase, which allowed residency candidates from different parts of the world to ask questions and hear about the residency program.
The residency program provides opportunities in rounding with a multidisciplinary team, sharpening critical thinking skills, and learning leadership skills as a licensed practitioner. The goal is to prepare each individual to deliver high-quality care and education to patients, pharmacists, pharmacy students, and other health care professionals.
