UChart Adds Kiosks for Patient Check-In
UChart, the electronic medical record system in place across UHealth, is adding another element to streamline patient visits. In certain clinical areas, we will be piloting the use of UChart Kiosks to allow patients to register and check in for their appointments.
The touch screen, multilingual kiosks look and work similar to those at airports, providing a fast and easy way for patients or their parents or guardians to check in for that day’s appointment. The pilot kiosks will be installed in four locations this week. Staff members will be available to guide first-time users through the new process.
The UChart Kiosks will premiere in the following locations:
Thursday, October 6 – Anne Bates Leach Eye Hospital, third and fourth floors
Friday, October 7 – UMHC/OPD1 and Radiation Oncology at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center
Based on feedback from the pilot, UChart leaders will determine how the kiosks will be used.
To start, the UChart Kiosks will allow patients to check in for their appointments in those areas, print an itinerary and map for any appointments made in the UChart system and print appointment reminders. Patients also will be able to update demographic and insurance information before receiving care.
Eventually, the kiosks will allow patients to make payments, including co-pays using a credit card, answer a health history questionnaire, and even scan driver’s licenses and insurance cards.
