Medical Issues and the Growing Child Conference, March 20
The University of Miami Department of Pediatrics and Otolaryngology is hosting the bi-annual Medical Issues and the Growing Child Conference on Friday, March 20, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the Newman Alumni Center on the Coral Gables campus.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Hearing Assistive Technology For The Growing Child: Everything You Want To Know” and will provide an overview of the latest developments in assistive listening devices (ALDs) and how to best implement them in a child’s daily life. Parents and other individuals using ALDs will share firsthand experiences.
Participants will be able to describe how a functional listening evaluation can identify the need for assistive listening technology. They will also learn how to locate the communication plan and identify which section to include information on for the student’s need for assistive listening technology.
Participants will be able to describe how an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) team can document the need for assistive technology on the IEP. The registration fee is $50.
