M.D./Ph.D. Student Research Symposium Takes Place April 9

The Miller School of Medicine’s 7th Annual M.D./Ph.D. Student Research Symposium will be held from noon to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 9. Keynote speaker Dan Rudolph Littman, M.D., Ph.D., Helen L & Martin S. Kimmel Professor of Molecular Immunology and professor of pathology, microbiology and molecular pathogenesis at New York University, will present “Dialogue of the Commensal Microbiota with the Host Immune System.”

Littman’s laboratory studies the molecular mechanisms involved in the specification of distinct T lymphocyte lineages during development in the thymus and in response to microbial challenge in peripheral tissues.

The goal of the symposium is to provide a unique forum for faculty-student engagement and for students to learn about the research of their peers. The following M.D./Ph.D. students planned this year’s event: Symposium Chair Holly Stradecki, Matthew Phillips, Michael Durante, Kevin Toomer, James Grosso, Michelle Caunca and Rhea Choi.
