Join Team UHealth for the Out of the Darkness Walk to Prevent Suicide

Every 60 seconds someone in the U.S. tries to commit suicide. Every 13 minutes, one of them succeeds. It’s tragic, and it’s preventable with treatment.

Please join Team UHealth, in partnership with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, in the annual Out of the Darkness Walk to raise money and awareness to help prevent suicide. The walk takes place on Sunday, October 11, from 10 a.m. to noon, beginning at the Stanford Rock on the Coral Gables campus.

Last year, hundreds of walkers took part in the event, and we hope to attract more participants this year. All money raised is used to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate public policy and support survivors of suicide loss. The goal is a 20 percent reduction in suicides by 2025.

Online registration is available here until noon on Friday, October 9, but anyone wishing to participate can also sign up in person at the event between the 9 a.m. check-in and the start of the walk. Donations will be accepted until December 31.
