Governor Scott Recognizes Agreement between Miller School and Israeli Trauma Society

During his recent trade mission in Israel, Governor Rick Scott recognized the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and the Israeli Trauma Society. The agreement strengthens the partnership between the Israeli Trauma Society and UM/Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, which has provided training to 85 percent of Israel’s trauma surgeons.

“Florida’s world-class education leaders are helping to train Israeli trauma surgeons and save lives, and I am proud to recognize the continued collaboration between the University of Miami and the Israeli Trauma Society today,” said Scott. “I had the honor of witnessing the expansion of this program during my trip to Israel in 2011, and I look forward to many more years of success through this partnership.”

The agreement was initiated in 2001 by Miller School trauma surgeons Enrique Ginzburg, M.D., and Mauricio Lynn, M.D., both of whom were present for the signing in Israel.

“The signed agreement, although ceremonial, provides recognition both in Israel and here for the Miller School of Medicine to continue with the mission of developing optimal trauma care and training for the Middle East and globally,” said Ginzburg. “No other U.S. institution has had such an impact in trauma care.”
