Epidemiology and Public Health to Co-Host Overtown Springs into Health

On Saturday, May 12, the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health’s Public Health Student Association will partner with Running with Sole, to host “Overtown Springs into Health,” a day of health screenings and physical activity sponsored by Lifescan, Inc., a Johnson & Johnson company. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Booker T. Washington High School, 1200 N.W. 6th Avenue, in Overtown and will be the finish line for “Walk a Mile With a Child,” an annual childhood obesity prevention walk hosted by the National Medical Association and the James Wilson Bridges, M.D., Medical Society.

Screening services and health education topics, including physical fitness, nutrition, maternal and child health, and sexual education, as well as yoga, hula hooping, Zumba and boot-camp style workout classes will be scheduled throughout the day.
