Dolphins Cycling Challenge V to Include First 5K Walk/Run
For the first time since its inception, the Dolphins Cycling Challenge (DCC) will include a 5K walk/run, providing something for everyone interested in supporting lifesaving cancer research at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. The walk/run will be held at Sun Life Stadium on Sunday, February 8, the second day of the two-day ride that spans three counties.
The University is once again honored to partner with the Miami Dolphins for the DCC, which has raised more than $7 million for groundbreaking research and patient care at Sylvester. These funds have helped build programs that have made a difference in the lives of countless cancer patients across South Florida.
Now in its fifth year, the DCC has permanently moved to a new time slot—the weekend after the Super Bowl, which places DCC V on February 7 and 8. Bicyclists can choose various skill levels and routes through 37 cities in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties, including 13 miles over one day and up to 170 miles over two days.
The University of Miami will pay half the registration fees—$75 for riders, $25 for walkers/runners—for UM faculty and staff who register as part of Team UM Sylvester, led by Dr. Jerry Goodwin, Sylvester’s chief medical officer. (This offer does not apply if you register under another team.)
Special prizes and opportunities showcasing individual department logos will be available to captains and their respective departments.
Help South Florida establish a world-renowned cancer center and sign up now to volunteer for or ride, walk, or run in the DCC V with Team UM Sylvester. Show our community that we are committed in many ways to fighting for a cure for cancer.
