Department of Public Health Sciences Hosts Networking Event for Students
The Department of Public Health Sciences Graduate Programs hosted a networking event for students to meet with local employers and community partners on Wednesday, October 7.
Five representatives were recent M.P.H. alumni attending on behalf of the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County, the Broward Regional Health Planning Council, the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science, and the Healthy Start Coalition of Miami-Dade County.
These graduates came back to recruit current students for employment and capstone program opportunities. They credited the faculty mentoring and career support they had received as M.P.H. with helping them achieve their career success.
Twelve organizations, some with multiple representatives, and more than 50 students attended this event.
Sherilyn Adler, Ph.D., Executive Director of Ear Peace: Save Your Hearing Foundation, said, “Everyone who attended, from the administrators, to the faculty, to the students, were welcoming and engaged. It was also a wonderful opportunity to meet other organizations in the community who are working alongside us toward improving our community.”
The Department of Public Health Sciences is grateful to the students and community partners who attended, and plans to hold a similar event next year.
