Biostatistics Core Offers Researchers Training and Support for REDCap Database Software
Research teams interested in learning how to use the University’s Research Electronic Data Capture system (REDCap) to collect and store data for study projects can take advantage of free support through the Biostatistics Collaboration and Consulting Core (BCCC).
REDCap is a secure and customizable web-based database application used to collect and store research data from case report forms, surveys or a combination of both. Setup is quick, and the program is flexible enough for any type of research.
Made possible with support from the Miami Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI), the BCCC offers clinics in which different features and capabilities of REDCap are demonstrated, including a streamlined process for rapidly building a database or online survey; a user-friendly interface for collecting data; audit trails for tracking data manipulation and user activity; exports to common statistical packages; and advanced functionality, such as branching logic, file uploading and basic calculated fields.
The BCCC can also offer one-on-one help to meet the specific project needs of a user or for general assistance in setting up a database to ensure that data is properly recorded and organized for later analysis.
