Bascom Palmer Eye Institute Celebrates 23rd Palm Beach Friends Luncheon
More than 200 guests attended Bascom Palmer Eye Institute’s Palm Beach Friends Medical Forum and Luncheon at the Mar-a-Lago Club, where Eduardo C. Alfonso, M.D., professor and chair of ophthalmology, welcomed the attendees and shared some of the Institute’s most recent research efforts and medical highlights.
Philip J. Rosenfeld, M.D., professor of ophthalmology, delivered the keynote address on Bascom Palmer’s leading role in drug research for the treatment of the wet form of age-related macular degeneration.
The event also featured an expert panel, which included Rosenfeld, Alfonso, Jorge Fortun, M.D., assistant professor of ophthalmology, and Yale Fisher, M.D., voluntary professor of ophthalmology, who fielded questions from the audience.
Honorary chairwoman and philanthropist Herme de Wyman Miro spoke briefly about ongoing support for the Institute.
