Dr. Deborah Barbouth Receives “See the Light” Award
Deborah Barbouth, M.D., assistant professor in the Dr. John T. Macdonald Foundation Department of Human Genetics and director of the University of Miami’s Victor Center for the Prevention of Jewish Genetic Diseases, was presented with the annual “See the Light” award from the Mathew Forbes Romer Foundation on January 9 for working as the medical geneticist advisor for the Foundation’s South Florida Jewish Genetic Diseases Education and Screening Fairs. During her acceptance speech, Barbouth stated, “It is a strange feeling to be honored for just doing what I love to do. I am fortunate that I can combine my passion for genetics and education with my Jewish heritage.”
The Mathew Forbes Romer Foundation was established to lead the fight for education, quality assurance and research of children’s genetic diseases of the brain.
