Acupuncture Services Now Offered at UHealth Reproductive and Fertility Center

The UHealth Reproductive and Fertility Center at University of Miami Hospital has added acupuncture therapy to the comprehensive array of services it offers patients seeking treatment for fertility disorders, including unexplained infertility and repeated pregnancy losses.

“We are delighted to be able to offer acupuncture therapy from a specialist with a vast knowledge of the reproductive disorders field,” said George Attia, M.D., associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology and Director of the UHealth Reproductive and Fertility Center, and the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, in welcoming acupuncturist Jessica Ellerman, M.S., to the center staff. “When appropriately applied, acupuncture can benefit many patients with infertility issues, including unexplained infertility, low ovarian reserve, elevated follicle stimulating hormone, spasmed tubes, luteal phase defect, and polycystic ovarian syndrome.”

Ellerman, who earned her Master of Science from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, is certified to practice acupuncture in California, Maryland, and Florida. She looks forward to teaming up with the center’s nutritionist and physicians with special expertise in female and male fertility, polycystic ovarian syndrome, thyroid disorders, endometriosis and hormonal imbalances, to continue improving the center’s rate of successful pregnancies, one of the highest in the nation.

In addition to its location in University of Miami Hospital’s Suite 5, the UHealth Reproductive and Fertility Center now has an office in Broward County at UHealth at Plantation, 8100 S.W. 10th Street, Plantation, FL, 33324. To schedule an appointment, please call 305-243-8642.
