Overview of the Isicoff Program
The Joseph Samuel Isicoff Program for Learning and Advancement is a newly established part of the Multidimensional Family Therapy (MDFT) program at the Center for Treatment Research on Adolescent Drug Abuse (CTRADA). The JSI program is fully funded by a generous gift from the Joseph Samuel Isicoff Memorial Fund, which was founded by the Isicoff family in memoriam of Joseph Samuel Isicoff, a dynamic young man who died on March 14, 2004 in a car accident.
The Isicoff Program is dedicated to providing proactive, ongoing, individualized comprehensive educational advocacy. The JSI program offers comprehensive educational and vocational evaluations, individualized treatment plans, and a variety of academic services ranging from one-on-one instruction to peer mentoring and a summer “school” program. These advocacy programs are ongoing – serving the clients throughout their high school careers, graduation, college entry, and job placement.
Upon intake, each client receives an academic screening, with a comprehensive educational and vocational evaluation that is used to identify academic strengths and needs. Then, individualized treatment plans are developed and reviewed periodically to promote appropriate educational and vocational goals for the at risk youth.
